GoOOooOOod MOrning Vietnam and Welcome Back to the second-short-season of Musitaly!

Tell me …how did you miss me? If so, use the hashtag #cocoiloveyou all around the web. If not, well… I love you anyway. #cocospreadslove

Vabbe’… What’s the story.. This is a special edition. Musitaly Summer Edition. It’s a collection of some famous Italian Summer Songs.

The formula is always the same. 5 of the best Italian songs in a row.

So, let’s start with the first one and then I’ll tell you something else about the singer.

Let’s begin with Giuni Russo. She was an Italian singer-songwriter who passed away in 2004. I would say that she was a talented singer BUT it wouldn’t be enough. Why? Because during her career she sung in the following languages: Italian, English, French, German, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, and Latin. Got it?
Well, if you think I am still unable to speak Italian and English properly… she was the top of the top, Topper.
BTW, do you remember Topper Harley? Vabbe’ this is another story.

The name of the song just about starting is Un’Estate al Mare. A Summer at the Beach. The song was written by Franco Battiato and this is one of the most iconic 80s Italian songs that represents the summer, with a very famous refrain.

Lyrics: Giuni Russo – Un’estate al mare

Part 2: Edoardo Vianello

Quest’Estate ce ne andremo al mare … we are going to the beach this summer

I hope you guys are already there. I am still on the lovely and cloudy island of Ireland. But I swear to you I will be tanned soon. Anzi, super tanned otherwise very tanned as per the next title’s song. Abbronzatissima.

This is another iconic Italian summer song released in 1963 and believe me or not … the single record of this song sold more than 6 million copies. Not “views”. Not “likes”. Not “streams”. 6 million copies sold. Paid by cash.
Just keep in mind this kind of comparison to understand how the music industry has changed.

The name of the singer is Edoardo Vianello and he is still considered as one of the most popular Italian singers of the Sixties. The other protagonist of this song is Ennio Morricone. He is credited with music arrangements.

Anyway, if you travel to Italy during Summer time it won’t be unusual to listen to this song despite its age. More than a half century ago. Amazing.

So… Ladies and Gentlemen … this A A A Abbronzatissima….

Lyrics: Edoardo Vianello – Abbronzatissima

Part 3: Gino Paoli

Allora? How was the song? Now, tell me. Did you happen to dance during the song? If not, well… I don’t know what’s wrong with you #LoL

And now … Let’s slow down a little bit because I will introduce another iconic song.

The name of the singer is Gino Paoli and I have talked about him during episode number ten of the first season of Musitaly.

He is “un grande” and what’s the story of this song? Well… I’ve already told you that this is an iconic song BUT … this is also a romantic song often dedicated to women in the summertime.

The song is called Sapore di Sale. Flavour of Salt which is the taste of the skin after swimming in the sea. You know what I mean, right?

Well a famous Italian actress, Stefania Sandrelli, recently reported that this song was a dedication to her and that…. Gino Paoli wrote this song during a kind of tour in Sicily. The music arrangement was by Ennio Morricone.

Ah … what I haven’t told you yet is.. At that time Gino Paoli was still married but he was having an affair with the actress… However, then they started a relationship and they have a daughter together. So, no panic people. This is the time for “Sapore di Sale”.

Lyrics: Gino Paoli – Sapore di Sale

Part 4: Luca Carboni

Ah.. l’Estate. What a magical moment. When you think anything can happen. I would keep this kind of mood and introduce you to the summer song number four of this special edition.

The name of the song is Mare Mare which we can translate as …mmmm… Beach Beach. Otherwise, Sea Sea.

You should know that in Italy when we say ‘mare’ we are talking about everything related to the sea, even the beach, the sand and so on.

This song is about a journey in a dream or a woman who won’t show up for the appointment. The trip, however, seems like an opportunity “not to drown” and escape from a city, in this case Bologna. A run-up that ends worse than how it started. There are girls by the sea and the singer would like to hug them all, but there is nothing to be done, the darkness and discomfort are too big beasts. In fact when left alone Luca Carboni, the singer of the song, sings:

The girls who sneer
And they make me feel alone
Yes, but what have I come to do here
I already have a sleep to die
Then I know that I always come back to shipwreck here.

I know it sounds a bit sad. But, in spite of everything with this song Luca Carboni won the 1992 Festivalbar edition, a famous Italian singing competition which began in 1964 and ended in 2007.

BTW, I was a super fan of the Festivalbar and I really miss it.

Amici, ma soprattutto amiche … Luca Carboni Mare Mare.

Lyrics: Luca Carboni – Mare Mare

Part 5: Salmo

Nice Song. I forgot to tell you that I’ve already introduced Luca Carboni to you in episode number three of Musitaly: Italian Society & Time. I think that after the next song, it would be nice if you visit musitaly.com and then click on episodes. Then, choose the number three and balla. And don’t forget to follow Musitaly and myself everywhere.

And now, tell me … What’s your favorite summer so far? I will tell you mine if you follow both Musitaly and me on Instagram. Then I will bring you a cup of cappuccino to your home. I will take a seat and I will tell you all about the 90 days more or less of my favourite summer. I think we will spend a couple of months together. Ahahah

A whole summer with me… maybe it would be you know what? An Estate dimmerda as the name of the next song sung by Salmo.

Estate dimmerda is a song that sings all the stereotypes of the Italian summers such as the weather that is too hot, the Peroni beers, Sardinia where the singer comes from, Maldive, failing at school, your girlfriend left you and you are getting crazy?

But you know what? Vabbè Balliamo. Vabbè Let’s dance.

So, who is Salmo? His real name is Maurizio Pisciottu and he started playing music soon. He experimented various musical genres but he got success in the mainstream audience in 2013 with the rap song S.A.L.M.O. Since then he has released many successes and although this one is not the most famous, we will listen to it because the best idea he got was to represent the summer.

I also recommend you to watch the video. I will share on Musitaly.com the YT video. And now you know what? Vabbè Balliamo!

Lyrics: Salmo – Vabbè Balliamo

Closing

Ok Beautiful People …. This one was the last one for today.

I know you are on holiday and this is the best time to listen to more songs introduced by me. But you know … Musitaly is like fireworks … fast and beautiful.

Don’t cry for me Argentina. Musitaly will be back on the 13th of August.

Why? Because 13+8 is 21 as the year of the beginning of the Musitaly project.

In the meantime remember you are Awesome. Only you can change this crazy world simply by doing what you really like to do.

Love You and

Don’t Forget Me
