#S2E1 Musitaly Special Summer Edition Vol. 2

Transcription of the episode #S2E2

Opening: Mina

GoOOooOOod MOrning Vietnam and Welcome Back to the second episode of the second-short-season of Musitaly! The Summer Special Edition.

If you are at the beach, CooL. If you are listening to this episode during the winter, instead, just close your eyes and imagine all the people… mmm Ehm .. aspè that one is another song #johnlennon #imagine.

I was saying just imagine one of the beautiful beaches you can find at random in the 7.500 km of Italian coastline.

Yes, Sir… I said 7500 km. Otherwise 4660 miles circa. And once you are there… bear in mind there are 2 types of tan. The suntan and the “moontan”. As the name of the next song. Tintarella di luna.

This song was released in 1959 by the music group “I Campioni”. The Champions. They were an Italian band founded in the late fifties by Tony Dallara and Paolo Ordanini. In that music group for a while also played Lucio Battisti and Fausto Papetti, an Italian alto and baritone saxophone player.

Ah… talking about Papetti. If you know Ispettore Coliandro, maybe you’ve already heard his music at least once.

What’s the story behind this song? Well, apparently a young singer named Mina listened to this song when she was in the island of Ischia and she fell in love with this song. Then she sang this song and it achieved great success for that time.

BTW that time in Italy will always be remembered as the Boom Economico. That time, in fact, my beloved Country was turning into one of the great economies around the world. Then… well… this is another story. Now let’s dance with Tintarella di Luna. Tintarella Color Latte.

Lyrics: Mina  – Tintarella di Luna

Part 2: Max Gazzè e Niccolò Fabi

Ahhhh the Summer Time. The beautiful summer season. When you think you have found the love of your life and then you allow it to run away. When you think you will meet another love again after a few hours? Otherwise, how does the sound of the name of the person you love change depending on the person?

If so, I have the right song for you. Vento d’estate. Summer wind. This song is sung by Max Gazze’ and Niccolo Fabi.

I’ve already introduced Max Gazze’ during the first season of Musitaly. Niccolo Fabi, instead, will be the protagonist of one of the next season’s episodes.

In the meantime, just dream with me listening to this magic song released in 1999

Lyrics: Max Gazzè e Niccolò Fabi – Vento d’estate

Part 3: 883

Ok, Beautiful People … we have already flown to the third song of this episode. But, before listening to the next one, please let me remind you a couple of things.

The first one first … is Musitaly’s website, musitaly.com. Then don’t forget to take a look at our Socialz… @musitaly everywhere… Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And of course, also take a look at my website cocopraise.com otherwise @cocopraise on IG.

Ok, the marketta is over. Now, let’s move on… where? Well, let’s go to the Nord. No, better South otherwise let’s go West. Anzi…East.

You know what? Nord, Sud, Ovest, Est sung by 883. Eight Eight Three as the iconic Harley.

This is a cheerful song full of Latin American rhythm and style. But despite the rhythm, the song has a melancholy text. It talks metaphorically about the search for the meaning of life, of finding oneself, as if it were a journey without knowing what the goal is, nor if the goal will ever be reached.

In this case, the journey begins following a love disappointment.

What about you? Are you still on a trip like me? As the title of Karl Popper’s autobiography said… Unended Quest. The Italian translation of that book, instead, is La ricerca non ha fine which means the search for … well, it never ends.

Lyrics: 883 – Nord Sud Ovest Est

Part 4: Paola & Chiara

The fourth song of the day … You must know that the musical group I am about to introduce you to is one of the reasons why I have started this beautiful radio project. Musitaly. Musitaly Radio Show.

If you read the idea webpage of Musitaly’s website, you will learn more about it.

Anyway, they are the lovely musical duo Paola & Chiara, two talented and beautiful Italian sisters very famous in Italy between the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s.

They started their career singing as choristers for the 883 music band and in 1997 they went to Sanremo Festival with the song Amici come prima winning the part tournament dedicated to young singers. That song achieved a decent success, to be honest.

Then Paola & Chiara released their first success in the year 2000. The song is called Vamos a Bailar. A great success in Italy which reached the Platinum Awards that year.

Actually, they are not singing together anymore. Paola is still active in the music industry. Chiara, instead, started a new career as an actress.

And what about us? Well, Let’s go dance. Quindi, Vamos a Bailar

Lyrics: Paola & Chiara – Vamos a Bailar

Part 5: Righeira

Occhei … Almost at the end. In Italian when something is ending, we say “Sta finendo”. Like this episode and also the Summer. So, L’Estate sta finendo.

This is a very popular song since “The Righeira”, an Italian Italo Disco duo formed in Turin in 1983, released it in the hot month of August 1985.

I found some data online about the weather that time and … guess ..

The average temperature was over 35 degrees celsius. Un-be-lie-va-ble.

Anyway … That time, as I already told you during one of the previous episodes, every Italian Summer was characterized by the Festivalbar.

An Italian singing competition held over the summer in the most major Italian squares. Piazze as we say in Italy.

For instance … if you need to meet someone in my beloved country, you can say Shall we meet in Major Square in Bologna. In Italian, instead, you have 2 options. The first one is the polite one. Ci vediamo in Piazza Maggiore a Bologna.

The second one, the Coco’s Style, instead, is: Oh, Bella… Ci vediamo in Piazza Maggiore a Bologna.

Then don’t forget to set a specific time. Otherwise, you can risk spending all day long alone in the Piazza waiting for your friend.

Vabbè we were talking about the song l’Estate sta finendo. The Summer is ending.

It’s a kind of timeless anthem. I think it will be actual even in the next 30 years. In Fact the song sings:

Summer is ending
and another year is going by,
I’m getting older and I don’t want to.

Then the song talks about a classic Summer love story born and died in a few weeks where one of the two partners went back home and maybe he or she, like in this case, has already met someone else.

Summer is ending and a year is going by,
I’m getting older,
you know I don’t want to.
Photography is everything I have,
I won’t forget about you!

Lyrics: Righeira – L’estate sta finendo

Closing

Cari amori miei

Grandi amori miei

Prima ci sei tu

Ma sto pensando anche a lei

Vabbe’ Sorry … this is another song that I will play to you in the next season.

I would also say, “Caro Amico ti scrivo” which we can translate as My dear fellow, I’m writing to tell you …

Tell you what.

I would tell you that you are not going to miss neither me nor Musitaly. And it is true because Musitaly will be back in a few weeks.

In the meantime, if you have German friends, let them know that Musitaly is also released in the German language.

Otherwise, if you are thinking of learning German as well, do not hesitate to visit musitaly.com where you can find all the transcriptions of the episodes, the lyrics and much more.

My friend Dj Blues Toni will host the German edition and I assure you … you are going to love him. More than me.

Remember … You are Marvelous. It’s only up to you to change this strange world simply by doing what you really like to do.

Love You

Don’t Forget Me

Ciao!
